Philip Hallett

Chairman

Philip has over 40 years experience advising oil & gas companies in respect of insurance coverage. Formerly Head of International Energy Operations at Marsh & McLennan, Philip has advised some of the world’s largest oil & gas companies on their upstream and downstream insurance requirements.

 

Philip has been involved in a number of industry committees, including the North Sea Oil & Gas Producers Association. He has also lectured to, amongst others, the American Petroleum Institute and Upstream Africa.

David Hallows

Managing Director

David started his career in 1985 with Lloyd’s broking house Howson F. Devitt & Sons Limited, handling control of well claims. In 1993 he joined C.T. Bowring & Co. Limited, part of the Marsh & McLennan Group, where he was responsible for negotiating insurance claims on behalf of some of the world’s largest offshore construction projects.

 

David has written various papers including Offshore Construction Insurance for the Oil & Gas Industry and Offshore Dismantling & Removal Insurance for the Oil & Gas Industry.

 

David holds the Chartered Insurance Institute’s Certificate of Insurance Practice.

Brian McLean

Engineering Consultant

Brian has over 45 years experience in the oil & gas industry. He started his career with BP in the Pipelines Department before moving on to work with a number of multinational oil & gas companies including Wintershall and Clyde Petroleum. He has been involved in numerous offshore field developments. These projects have involved platform fabrication and installation, plus pipeline and umbilical installation. Brian also has specific experience relating to FPSO life extensions and associated repair activity.

 

From 2006 to 2019, he managed the offshore workscope for Nord Stream AG and Nord Stream 2 AG. This involved the successful installation of over 4,000 kms of 48” linepipe from Russia to Germany through the Baltic Sea. Other responsibilities during this time included four 48” hyperbaric tie ins.

 

Brian is a Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Mechanical Engineering.
